• A twin delta antenna is a compact full-wave loop antenna designed for the 2-meter amateur radio band. Each triangular loop has sides of approximately 70 cm, 67 cm, and 67 cm, giving a loop circumference of about 204 cm. Since the wavelength at 146 MHz is approximately 205.5 cm, the antenna resonates very close to the center of the 2-meter band. The antenna is fed with 50-ohm coaxial cable at the center feedpoint, providing efficient power transfer for transmitting and receiving VHF signals. A 1:1 current balun (common-mode choke) at the feedpoint may be useful to reduce common-mode currents on the coax and improve radiation symmetry. Fine-tuning the dimensions can help achieve the lowest SWR after construction.
