To solve the historic problem of blood clots caused by synthetic plastics and metals, every internal surface that contacts blood is lined with biocompatible bovine pericardial tissue, substantially reducing the need for heavy blood thinners.

Inside the titanium shell, dual motorized micro-pumps drive hydraulic fluid against flexible membranes to create a natural, pulsatile heartbeat. Ten embedded sensors—including pressure transducers and accelerometers—detect when a patient stands up, walks, or rests, automatically adjusting cardiac output between 2 and 9 liters per minute.

By combining biological tissue engineering with aerospace robotics, this French innovation offers a life-saving bridge for patients waiting for a transplant.
