U opširnom intervjuu s podcasterom Dvarkešom Patelom, u kojem je učestvovao i suosnivač te predsjednik kompanije Stripe, Džon Kolison, Mask je upitan zbog čega je zagovarao agresivne rezove državne potrošnje dok je vodio Odjel za efikasnost vlade (DOGE), ako već vjeruje da će tehnologija snažno podstaći rast bruto domaćeg proizvoda i olakšati otplatu duga.
