These tight muscles can lead to a buildup of lactic acid and a decrease in healthy circulation. This often creates a cycle of stiffness and discomfort that makes it hard to trust your body again. I often find that heat is very effective for persisting muscle tightness. Heat-packs are often under-utilised or used incorrectly that the benefits gets missed. Applying a heat pack to your hamstrings (the back of your thighs) and your calves can help to relax the muscle fibres and encourage blood flow. Improved circulation helps to flush out built-up waste products like lactic acid and allows the muscles to “let go” of the knee joint. This simple shift can help reduce the feeling of restriction when you move.

  1. Gently Stretch Tight Muscles

When muscles like the hamstrings, calves, and the ITB (the band along the outside of your leg) are tight, they act like a shortened rope pulling on the knee. This creates inefficient biomechanics and unnecessary strain.
